AP2 Base is a 12 week power training
program utilizing on bike power measurement and specifically it
is targeting development of endurance and power on the bike. If
the cyclists aerobic base building workouts have been completed
the to improve cardiovascular and aerobic capacity and cause adaptation
in the central cycling tioning development for team and individual
athletes.
To get the most from your time spent on the bike you need to
follow a plan. Like any journey it's difficult to get where
you want to go without a map or at least some idea of the direction
to head and milestones to reach. The issue is what should your
plan contain? How much aerobic base development? How much power
and speed work? How much recovery ?
Training for cycling can seem very conflicting as the demands
are so varying and the workouts to improve one skill can be
at odds with another energy system for developing another skill.
For example, anaerobic power for sprint development vs. steady
state power development for 40 Km TT performance.
The Power @ The Pedal cycling training program utilizes the
modern training tools of high performance cycling capturing
the measurement of power, athlete training stress, and cycling
efiiciency. The use of the Computrainer Ergometer system
and the CycleOps PowerTap hub system in tandem with leading
athlete software and data anlysis allows the athlete and the
coach the ability to measure real time power based performance
on the trainer and on the road and to make the most of that
data after the riding is done.
Skills development and event specific focus is provided through
field training and skills clinics that attempt to develop or
enhance climbing, sprinting, speed and racing skills.
